Is there a way to prevent a mailing list from being displayed on the Unsubscribe page? If the Mailing Group is not set to Public then it should not show I believe.

Yes you can. There is an override option under Admin > CiviMail > CiviMail Component Settings ie at civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/mailing?reset=1 Disable check for mandatory tokens Don't check for presence of mandatory tokens (domain address; unsubscribe/opt-out) before sending mailings. Its been a while - but hope these tips help: Make sure you greenlight the IP address of your server for smtp relay. Sometimes your webhost will block outgoing smtp ports to servers other than their own. Ask your host to remove this limitation, if they do not, find another host. This is common with shared hosting. Bounce processing assumes that the account is dedicated to handling bounces. You don't want to mix bounce handling with a mailbox used by users. See all of the "CiviMail setup" chapter in the System Administrator Guide and in particular: https://docs.civicrm.org/sysadmin/en/latest/setup/civimail/#bounce-processing https://docs.civicrm.org/sysadmin/en/...

In addition to JonG's answer, I would definitely recommend using a professional SMTP Gateway. For instance we pay 10€ / month for 10 000 emails with great deliverability. They will provide SPF and DKIM entries for your Domain and your emails will reach their recipients. In CiviCRM you just need to set the parameters and you're done!

Pete's answer is technically correct, but from a user experience perspective - these folks are choosing to opt out, and there should ideally be a middle ground that meets everyone's needs. My assumption is that you have mailings that must reach the members - legal notices, etc. - and then some non-mandatory communication (e.g. a newsletter) which is what ...
