This is a great catch Bryan. The wording changed in CiviCRM 5.25 (May 2020), but they missed this. I just opened a ticket and wrote a patch to address this. The fix is in Civi 5.29+ (September 2020). Thanks again not just for noticing, but for reporting this.

Assuming you used the Price Set Entity field to get the registration form. The confirmation email was never fleshed out totally. There are also 2 Rules Events you can react to: "Event Registration" and "Successful CC Transaction" Which then you could use Drupal's stock "Send email" action ... We do have a Rules action, "...

As said by @demerit you will need to enable online registration for the event. You see the option for turning on online registration under 'Online registration' tab of event.

If you are on wordpress 5.5 than your CiviCRM version should be more than 5.25.x. Also can you check the shortcode that you have added in wp post/page has contribution id.

It sounds like you need to give anonymous and Data Manager users the 'CiviCRM: profile create' permission, and likely 'CiviCRM: profile edit' and/or 'CiviCRM: profile view' additionally.
