Easy way of one word translation?
Following on from comments, if this is custom code then you can use CRM.config.locale and hardcode the translation there, e.g.
var text = 'banana';
if (CRM.config.locale == 'fr_FR') {
text = 'banane'...

Where are translations for drop-downs?
That drop-down is pulling options from the activity_contacts option group. So it sounds like your option group is in Swedish and doesn't have English labels available.
